🎓 Application

How did you learn about this program?

They came with open lecture to my hometown, and then I found all information online

Why did you decide to enrol in this program?

I was already studying fashion in university in Russia, so I decided to continue

What was your application experience?

I had a Skype interview, and portfolio. It was quite easy as I already had experience in sewing and drawing. Comparing to other people on my course (all of them came after high school) I was bored on some lessons :)

What level of English is required to enter this program?

The level of English should be advanced, and very important to know all “professional” definitions.Apparently they didn’t ask me about IELTS or TOEFL, I had only Skype interview

What level of Spanish is required to enter this program?

I came with zero Spanish, I started to learn it to socialize more. And it’s an easy language so it was fun :)

💡 Your impressions from your study abroad experience

What are your general impressions about this program?

Well, my education was fun. The course was super creative, teachers were great, but there is nothing to do without pre-education. I remember my classmates crying and not knowing how to sew garment for homework. I’ve never had this problem cuz I’ve already been through all fashion/artistic problems. Thesis year was hard but it’s the brightest memory, we’ve worked a lot. Applying for any course abroad you need to be ready that no one is gonna do something for you. You need to be ready for self-education all the time. 3-4 hours a day in a class is not enough always, so you need to continue on your own. And is Spain no one is gonna push you like “I believe in you, do your best!” No. You’ve been in a class, that’s it, not enough? Welcome to library and read, google more. Apparently i was surprised that school doesn’t provide any internship or job placement. So after graduation it was really hard to find and internship (not even saying job haha). In general it was really good experience, full of new ideas and people around me!

What was the major program value for you?

I wanted to learn and understand another system of creativity, and European way of fashion production

What did you like about this program?

Definitely new people and new professional experiences!

And what didn’t you like?

It was for beginners and no one told if before, so I’ve been 1 year waistline time and doing the same things I was doing in Russia.

What is the hardest part of studying abroad?

Socializing in foreign country without knowing language.

How did your typical day look like?

8.00- wake up 10.00-22.00- university (and I’m not kidding, it’s a lot of hand made tasks so you need time to do it) 23.00-go to bed Looks like torture haha:)

Is this experience different from your experience at your country’s university? If yes, how?

Yes, it’s completely different. The way of organizing fashion brands is different in EU and Russia

📌 Useful resources

If you had questions or issues (studies, language, administration, careers, integration etc), where did you get help/advice?

Mostly in school administration

Did you contact other students with a similar experience? Was their experience helpful?

No, and I suggest not to contact cuz everyone has their own experience

Could you recommend websites which might help study abroad?

Unfortunately no

💰Finance

What was the cost of your program? How did you finance your studies?

About 13.000€ per year. I’ve had a scholarship, you can apply after first year, and if you get it you can cover 30-100% of your course

🏠 Accommodation

What was your accommodation experience?

I was renting a flat with my Russian friend. She was doing graphic design course in my university. She found a flat, and we didn't change it for 3 years.

How much did you pay for living per month during your studies?

About 600-700€

🚀 Career opportunities

Did you do an internship during your studies? How did you find it?

Nope, I came back home and found job in Moscow

Did your university help you in this process?

No

What was the field of your internship? If you don’t mind please share the remuneration you got.

Fashion marketing, fashion design, dressmaking

Did you find a job after graduation? Which field and how did you find it?

Yes, I’ve found in Moscow, I work as fashion designer in cool underground fashion brand

🌏 Your future plans

What are your plans for the future? Do you plan to stay in the country?

I don't have any plans

What do you like about Spain? And what not?

The best things about Spain are: people, food, sun and sea!

Could you give a piece of advice to future students?

Don’t be afraid, be strong and do your best!
